London – April 2026 The National Franchised Dealers Association (NFDA) met with Dawn Butler MP for Brent East last week during a positive visit to the TrustFord Edgware dealership to discuss central points affecting the automotive retail sector. Discussing the challenges facing the sector as the industry transitions to zero-emission vehicles, the meeting covered the possible consequences of current and upcoming policy measures. CEO of Trustford, Stuart Mustoe, and General Manager of TrustFord Edgware, Enzo Sgambati alongside NFDA’s Symon Cook and James Price discussed several key issues, including: Concerns surrounding the introduction of electric Vehicle Excise Duty (eVED) and its effect on consumer demand. Current Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) Mandate targets and the challenges they present for manufacturers and retailers. The need for continued investment in charging infrastructure to support the transition to electric vehicles. Apprenticeship placements were also a key topic, reviewing the opportunities available for young people to begin careers in the automotive industry.
