Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has confirmed that production at its UK factories will remain suspended until 1 October at the earliest, following a major cyber-attack that has severely impacted the company’s operations. The affected sites include Solihull, Halewood and Wolverhampton, where manufacturing has come to a standstill. The incident, which is believed to have cost the company millions of pounds, has left JLR unable to produce vehicles while it works to restore normal operations. Business Secretary Peter Kyle has stated that the Government is doing “everything we can” to support Jaguar Land Rover in its recovery efforts. He emphasised the importance of getting the manufacturer back to full production. One idea being explored is the Government buying component parts the suppliers build. The move would aim to keep the companies in JLR’s supply chain in business until production lines have recovered.
