NFDA attended the SMMT International Automotive Summit this week, where David Hammersley, Head of F&I and Compliance, discussed the future of EV adoption. He highlighted that dealerships have invested heavily in training and infrastructure to support the transition, but argued that wider consumer uptake will depend on the availability of more affordable electric vehicles. Hammersley said consumers “don’t buy targets, they buy what they can afford,” stressing that improving affordability is now key to driving demand.
