The National Franchised Dealers Association (NFDA), together with Steven Eagell, Chief Executive of the Steven Eagell Group, welcomed Mike Reader, Labour MP for Northampton South, to his Toyota dealership on Friday to discuss a range of pressing issues facing the automotive retail sector. The meeting followed the Chancellor’s Autumn Budget announcement and focused on several significant challenges for the industry, including: Concerns surrounding the newly proposed EV Pay Per Mile scheme Welcoming the increased investment in the UK’s charging infrastructure announced in the Budget Ongoing issues related to mileage fraud Implications of the recent Supreme Court judgement and the FCA’s associated redress scheme consultation During the visit, Mr Reader also met with several apprentices at the dealership, hearing first-hand some uplifting local success stories of young people who have progressed quickly within the business. Their experiences highlighted the vital role that automotive apprenticeships play in supporting future sector growth.
