The Government has expanded its Electric Car Grant (ECG), adding four more fully-electric models to the discount. As of 3 December 2025, the following vehicles now qualify for a £3,750 reduction at the point of sale: MINI Countryman, Renault 4, Renault 5 and Renault Alpine A290. This latest expansion doubles the number of EV models eligible for the highest ECG discount, bringing the total to eight. The move is part of a broader UK government commitment to accelerate electric vehicle adoption, with an extra £1.5 billion announced in the Autumn Budget. Of this, £1.3 billion is allocated to extend the ECG through 2030 and a further £200 million is earmarked for expanding public charging infrastructure nationwide. According to official figures, more than 40,000 drivers have taken advantage of the ECG since it launched in July 2025.
